Robert P. (Bob) Harling, Founder
After graduating from the University of South Carolina and serving in the United States Army National Guard, Bob Harling began his career in the restaurant business in 1967. It was here that he discovered the need for health insurance coverage of his workforce. Due to the transient nature of the foodservice industry, most carriers refused coverage. However, in 1973 Bob changed his career path and created Benefit Source, Inc. (BSi). He provided benefits solutions that would help our clients grow and used his extensive knowledge of government contracts to establish compliance guidelines that no other third-party administrator could match.
Robert P. (Beau) Harling Jr. , President
Running the day-to-day operations, Beau is the first to jump into the front lines and use his highly energized personality to find solutions. He works alongside BSi’s managers and clients to help people, solve problems, and keep everyone in compliance. Beau specializes in being able to relate and explain laws, regulations, or details to both C-Level executives as well as hourly workforce employees. “It’s the same info but explained in very different ways. We have more acronyms in our industry than the military and people have to be able to come in and understand.” Beau is a graduate from The University of South Carolina and is a licensed Life & Health and P&C producer. Working closely with Colonial and Symetra Financial Services, he has designed several innovative products offered in the Life & Health arena and is a leading authority on government contractor regulations, union policies, and third-party administrative services.
Lori Lockhart, CFO
Lori Lockhart was promoted to Chief Financial Officer of BSi Companies in January 2024, after working as Controller since 2019. She leads financial strategy, accounting operations, and fiscal oversight for BSi and its subsidiaries, bringing over 37 years of experience in the accounting field. A Maryland native, Lori began her career at Thomas & Thomas CPA and went on to hold Controller positions with several companies throughout her career before joining BSi Companies. She holds a Master of Science in Accounting from Almeda University, along with certifications in Government Cost Accounting and Microsoft applications. Known for her integrity, strong work ethic, and self-motivation, Lori values faith, work-life balance, and community service. She has volunteered with the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, and as a Guardian ad Litem. In her free time, she enjoys traveling the world.
Kristy Wilson, VP, Group Health Operations
Kristy Wilson brings more than 25 years of experience in third-party administration, with a deep background in group health operations for both self-funded and fully insured plans. She leads BSi’s group health division, overseeing claims administration, customer service, new client onboarding, and system development to ensure seamless and efficient operations. Before joining BSi in 2017, Kristy served as Vice President of Group Health Operations at Hewitt Coleman, where she spent 17 years building high-performing teams and driving process improvements across claims, eligibility, and compliance. She began her career at Kanawha Benefit Services and has maintained a strong passion for service excellence and operational integrity throughout her career. Kristy believes that when operations run smoothly, it gives clients the confidence to grow and her team the ability to support them every step of the way.
Carmen Louw, Customer Service Manager
Carmen Louw has been a dedicated customer care administrator for over 20 years, with experience spanning multiple industries, from large corporations to small businesses. Known for her ability to build strong connections, she brings a unique warmth and professionalism to everything she does. “When I came to BSi, it was like coming home. A family-owned company taking care of our clients’ families, that’s a home run for me.” At BSi, Carmen plays a vital role in connecting the dots between employers, brokers, HR administrators, providers, and members. Whether reviewing eligibility, benefits, or payment status, Carmen excels at delivering clarity with care. Her passion lies in being the bridge by helping people across the country feel heard, informed, and supported.
Brian Owens is the Director of IT and Cybersecurity with 40 years of experience in Information Technology, specializing in web application development with a strong focus on Cybersecurity and Compliance. A graduate of Clemson University, Brian has pursued postgraduate studies at Boston University and UC Berkeley and holds a range of certifications along with extensive professional development and continuing education credits. His depth of knowledge and steady leadership support secure, reliable systems that enable the organization to operate with confidence.
Brian Owens, Director of IT
David’s programming journey began at age six on an Apple //e, where guiding a small turtle across the screen sparked a lifelong fascination with problem‑solving through code. Now with 25 years of professional experience, he is driven by a passion for uncovering meaningful insights from complex and seemingly unrelated data. David brings persistence, curiosity, and a love of technical challenge to his work. Since joining BSi in 2018, he has valued the ability to see the direct impact of his contributions while taking on the most ambitious projects of his career. The environment at BSi gives him room to grow, innovate, and continually expand his expertise. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics.
